I learned something in English class-
Agonies are one of my changes of garments
I do not ask the wounded person how he feels, I myself become the wounded person
My hurts turn livid upon me as I lean on a cane & observe
- Walt Whitman
Today, we were reading a poem by Walt Whitman & this was a stanza he had.. It really touched me because it's talking about how you need to be in someone's shoes LITERALLY before you can actually feel how that person feels. We all tell everyone "I'm sorry for your loss" or "Just be happy" but in reality we have NO idea how that ONE person feels because we, ourselves, have not been through it..
Some people may have & this post discludes you, but for the ones that know nothing, be careful about what you say because you can really hurt someone's feelings when you put your own two cents in there & then everything is ruined. But I was just amazed at how I actually learned something that I can apply to my life-
